What Attraction Poster is That? Photoniks – Episode 2

Welcome back to Photoniks! In our second official episode, Mr. Daps and Clocky dive into a spectacular eBay find: an intact, five-photo vintage album from the Artcraft Camera Shop of Kingston, New York.

While the first episode was a mystery of “where,” this episode is a masterclass in “what.” We’re peering into the late 1950s at Disneyland to spot the tiny details—from pocket protectors and paper hats to the missing railings of yesteryear.

In This Episode, We Discuss:

  • The Artcraft Album: A look at the physical artifact—a rare, fully intact photo mailer from a New York camera shop that found its way back to Southern California.
  • The Original Mad Tea Party: Analyzing the “old” teacups before they had doors, featuring hand-painted exit signs and striped “lance” poles that suggest a very different aesthetic for Fantasyland.
  • A Pirate Ship Comparison: Mr. Daps compares the iconic Chicken of the Sea Pirate Ship to the modern version recently seen at Tokyo DisneySea’s Fantasy Springs. Plus, a look at the “dangerous” lack of railings around the water!
  • Main Street Station Secrets: A deep dive into the attraction posters lining the entrance. Can we identify them all? (We spotted Rocket to the Moon, Dumbo, 20,000 Leagues, and more).
  • Engine Number One: Clocky points out the tell-tale massive smoke stack that confirms we are looking at the legendary C.K. Holliday.
  • 1950s “Street Life”: Observing the formal footwear of guests, the presence of “paper hats,” and the era-appropriate “gifts” left behind by the horses of the Horseless Carriage.

Featured Photos (Timestamp Highlights):
